My Story
I was an observant and sensitive child.
I could always sense how people were feeling upon walking into a room. I paid attention. It was the 70’s and my parents were Jewish transplants from New York City finding their way in a polite subdued Seattle. We were outsiders. It gave me perspective to understand nuanced social and power dynamics of situations and early on drew me towards social justice. It also left me with a sense of loneliness and a longing for belonging.
I wanted to grow up to be a good friend.
When asked what I wanted to be when I grew up the same answer, “a good friend”, always popped into my head. From a young age, I was seeking authentic connection. Playdates at my house meant sitting on the bed talking. I’ve been drawn toward being in relationships where people feel seen and supported my entire life.
My passion is supporting individuals and communities.
In my 20’s, a study abroad program in Nepal introduced me to women’s lending circles and systems thinking. I was immediately passionate about the transformative impact of economic freedom and its effect on broader community health. Since then I’ve spent over 25 years working in community development across North America with a focus on Indigenous communities. I am committed to supporting culturally grounded work that is driven by the community. My work has encompassed curriculum development, training, impact evaluation, and coaching.
In 2016, I became a certified coach to support individuals and small groups in doing their own healing work with the intention of creating a ripple effect that will promote healthier connections and communities. Growth and transformation start with our own work to understand our protective armor and continues as we learn to lead with our values, embrace self-compassion, and tend to our emotions and nervous systems.
I believe that all parts of us have a noble purpose.
I, like most people, have conversations between various parts of myself going on in my mind all the time. As I’ve learned to attune to these parts of my being, I’ve come to understand their wisdom and desire to protect me from feeling pain or suffering. Understanding and appreciating our full selves is at the core of self-acceptance and supports our journey of healing our deepest pain. This approach has been transformational in my own work coming to embrace the parts that felt the shame of living with dyslexia and needed to heal from family trauma.
My journey is rooted in intuition, compassion, courage and authenticity.
I believe in going inward. This healing path has guided me to reconnect with my own voice. The more deeply I cultivate internal listening the more clarity and connection I feel with myself, others, and the Universe. It is an honor for me to support others on their own path to reconnect and be guided by their inner voice. To embrace all parts of themselves and move forward with courage and intention.
I am here to walk beside you on your journey.
I view coaching as a relationship with you that goes beyond regular meetings. I work with people who are seeking growth. I see my role as a guide who holds space, as well as shares resources that I believe, are of particular interest to you.
Away from my coaching and facilitation work, you will find me with my family beauty hunting in nature and seeking wisdom in the nooks and crannies of the world.
If my story resonates with you and you’d like to explore working together…
My coaching approach has been influenced by teachers such as Dick Schwartz, Tara Brach, Brene Brown, Kristin Neff, Don Richard Riso, and Beatrice Chestnut. I’m trained in internal family systems, trauma-informed care, and I’m a certified facilitator for all of Brene Brown’s work.
